This is the kind of day when I think of throwing in the towel (not really, but it crosses my mind). I went out this morning in my nightgown and coat. The frost was back with the added bonus of a little sunshine. I thought I'd really get something cool. Well, I took a lot of shots and finally settled on this one. But I wanted spectacular ice crystals. Then, out of frustration, I took some dog shots. Maggie needs a bath badly.......so, not what I wanted there, either. Lastly, I tried some Christmas tree bokeh. I ought to be able to follow directions and get something nice enough to share with all of you. Well, think again. I need a tutorial on that one. Step by step instructions from all of you that are just making that happen. I'm jealous. I get bokeh - but it is always that happy accident. So, I'm stuck with some half baked ice crystals.......and so are you.
Sometimes the idea or chance just doesn't come - thats when creation and imagination takes over. You saw the hand outstretched here with the frost on its fingertips and hey presto - a beautiful photo!
This is beautiful Carhy. To get bokeh, shoot with manual focus, bokeh is unfocused light. When you find the bokeh you can try adding something focused in the foreground, quite a distance away from the bokeh.
Well this is certainly pretty, but i know what you mean. My good shots are often serendipity rather than planned. I guess we should be grateful for that
LOL!! I Love your Determination!!! It is a beautiful capture just the same! Some days..( like my yesterday) are just one of those days! Glad to hear your not throwing in the towel! :)
LOL!! I have had many a day just like this and yet your still got a nice shot! You can't do FABULOUS every day or they would ALL be plain! Nice detail and beautiful DOF, Cathy!
I went out to get a frosty shot on the deck and didn't know there was frost and fell right on my butt, I tried to stop the fall with my hand and even it slid and I was out on my back. but happy that my camera was safely high in the air in the other hand.
LOL! That came straight from the heart Cathy! And I know exactly how you feel!! But for all the disappointing shots one takes there is always compensation in that nice sense of satisfaction when one comes out just as you want - or even unexpectedly better - and you take lots of great shots!! Like this one, stark, simple with loads of frosty, cold impact!
I think we've all had days like that where it feels like nothing works. So frustrating! Like everyone else has said, the only thing to do is keep shooting.
Anyway, I like this - it has lovely muted tones. :)
This is lovely! Gorgeous DOF. Don't be so hard on yourself, Cathy! If you want Christmas tree bokeh, put on your macro lens, turn off the auto focus and play with the focus until all the lights are blurry. When you like what you see, click - easy peasy!
l feel for you ... exactly where l am at...no inspiration or motivation...we dont have frost ...so l love this, beautiful colour ...especially that you braved the cold in your nighty - lol!!
