When I got up this morning my husband of darn near 32 years had left a huge kalanchoe plant on the kitchen table. That is why he is still my husband.
In all seriousness, he is an incurable romantic - and I wouldn't have it any other way. He came home from work with a new CD to listen to during our steak dinner - yes, he grills out in February. I even made dessert. That is Valentine's Day for us. We've been blessed to spend so many of them together. I was 30 years old with two young sons when we got married and I am still crazy in love with him. He still makes me laugh out loud. We have had good times and incredible times. We've had some tough years to weather, also. Nobody that is in it for the long haul can deny that those times come. Our rough ones have mostly been health related, the loss of loved ones. Raising those two young boys into the men that they are today wasn't always easy - but we did a pretty good job of it. He is an incredible father and grandfather. I'm still surprised that he married me. After living through a lousy marriage I had some very set views of what I would and would not live with again in my life. He agreed to all of them. In June we will celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. When he came home from work he didn't even bat an eye at the Christmas lights taped to the kitchen wall. Did I say how much I love him?
@grammyn After all these years I better be keeping him. @vskolnik I used a paper punch and made a lens hood out of construction paper. Now you know all my secrets.
Awww, Cathy, because I like you so much I'm going to share one of my favorite romantic songs with you. Happy Valentine's Day http://youtu.be/euoEImhTkDg
What you say could come right out of my mouth! You say exactly what I would say about my love! I particularly like the fact he can still make me laugh!
@sugarmuser Thanks, Sharon. I have to keep my hand in. Have to find some white lights. @soboy5 Thanks, Danny. I am betting you are a romantic after seeing those gorgeous roses. @cromwell Why thank you. I am listening as I type. @katieannb Thanks Katie. My first ever attempt at journaling. @yonnie Thank you Yvonne. Happy Valentine's DAy.
I love your photo and your story even more! I too, have finally found my love and we have been together for almost two years now! Yes, he bought me roses and cooked dinner. I think he's a keeper!
Sounds like there are actually two romantics in your home! I was saying amens to all your statements (Jeff and I will celebrate number 34 in June) for Jeff and I have had those similar experiences in going through life together (only we married young and had two sons instead). But I must confess, Jeff has not seen some of my crazy set-ups or 365 doodads. I try to have them out of the way by the time he gets home! lol Nice sparkles and lights!
A terrific story and I'm glad that your hubby is a "keeper". Love the picture with that marvellous bokeh (template on the frint of the lens?). If my wife had found Christmas lights stuck to a wall, she would just shrug and remind me to clean up the mess afterwards!
