We got to go to Grandparents Day at Garrett's school in Fishers, IN. yesterday. It was so much fun! We got to sit by him at his desk (right in front of the teacher - wonder why? He is his father's son). Miss V. - who just graduated this from college this year - was so very nice and he likes her a lot. His reading skills are off the chart. It is amazing to see how different school is today. They have computer lab in 1st grade!
I miss him so very much. I know it is only two hours away, but Tom had to do all kinds of rearranging to get us to an activity during the week. And we were so glad we were there. Michael had to let his dog Katie, 15 years old, go to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday morning. I was glad that I got to tell her good bye and be with my son yesterday.
Memory making photograph! So sweet! These days pass far too quickly! And I am sure the 15 years Michael had with Katie is filled with fond memories. My stepmother's dog, Fancy, joined Katie at the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.
I love your idea of a rainbow bridge and do hope I will always remember that! Does Garret sit in front of the teacher because he is naughty at the back or just so keen to learn?
Mixed news here Cathy...lovely photo of your grandson & his lovely teacher...he looks very relaxed with her...how times change!!!! Sorry about the poor dog though...sad times!
@maggiemae Garrett is sitting in the front because he talks too much! Hopefully they can remedy this. Goggle the Legend of the Rainbow Bridge. I was introduced to it years ago and have taken it as my own ever since. I have quite a few waiting for me. @happypat It really is. I was glad to be there for my son, though. It is never easy - but I'd never not have a dog in my life.
So glad that you got to spend some time with your family - for the good stuff as well as the difficult stuff. I can't read the rainbow bridge poem without sobbing.

I am so sorry to hear about your son's dog. Like you say, it is lovely that you could be there to say goodbye and offer support.
