Well, it has finally happened. I am feeling officially old. I was out shopping this morning - I am a huge believer in retail therapy. I was walking through one of our larger department stores and found myself humming along to the Muzak. And then it hit me. It was an instrumental version of the Fish Cheer - by Country Joe and the Fish. Now, that is just wrong! For those of you too young to remember this was a huge antiwar song during the Vietnam War. I was in college during the antiwar protests that rocked this country. I did the marches, the sit ins. Yes,I was one of those hippies. Such a fun time - and I still believe that I can change the world! But the Fish Cheer is a little naughty and about as anti war as you can possibly get. "Be the first one on your block to have your boy come home in a box."
It was a very particular time in history - and the days of my youth. But how could a song like that ever end up as Muzak? I'm old.
Bless your heart! It can be a harsh realization but I can tell you as someone who almost never grew any older that being old is not all that bad! ♥ Beautiful capture of this flower so you still are young enough to appreciate the beauty around you!
Love your commentary! You don't think old until "Siriously Sinatra" is the home station on your car radio! Nice rose of Sharon shot - ours are just starting to bloom.
Gorgeous shot! Super focus and dof! Love your story! The "I'm old" feeling hit me recently when we got on a little commuter plane and the pilot walked in. I said to my husband, "I hope he knows how to fly the plane, he looks like he's 12!" He had a wedding ring on too. It hit me that people probably don't have that feeling about me anymore. I used to be the young one! Oh well, the alternative is much worse so I'll take it!
I agree...that song should NOT be rendered as Muzak. Ah well. My Rose of Sharon isn't even close to having blooms yet. You must be quite a bit warmer there.
