Wildflowers by cdonohoue

Wildflowers

We planted wildflower seeds all along our fence line this year. We had no idea what was really in the seed packets or how they might blend together. I can only say that I am in love with the results. As I was sitting on the driveway last night playing in the flowers it occurred to me that the end result was a lot like people. They are all different shapes and colors. They vary greatly in height. They are all beautiful.

Maybe they are just another example of Forrest Gump's box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. My mother used to quote an older aunt of hers. We'd all be so boring if we were all alike. Why can't the world be as easy as a mix of wildflowers. We have been fighting the same fight over and over again through the ages. We don't care for the shade of another's skin, the who and how "they" worship, those who have much over those who have so very little. Until we finally figure out that we are fighting the same battle generation to generation it will never cease. Until we get over the pettiness of the everyday and look to the greater good we are here at the same old stand.Won't you join me in celebrating the beauty of the wildflowers? I realize that I oversimplify everything. But I think that oversimplification is what this world needs. Somebody needs to explain to those that judge that we are all wildflowers. We are all here to be loved and nurtured.

Lovely image and lovely thought. I'm afraid human nature is hard wired to believe in "us" and "them". This is a survival technique that has generally worked over the ages. It would be nice if we could transcend that but most people have trouble leaving behind emotional responses and replacing them with intellectual concepts.

I love the soft pastel colors in this and the blurred focus. I also love your philosophy once again and wish more people would espouse it.
