Yesterday it rained for the majority of the day and was damp cold. It will be 90 by the weekend. I actually lit the fireplace and enjoyed getting warm. The weather is supposed to bring out the 17 year cicada cycle. I am not looking forward to that for several reasons. I have just spent so much time and effort planting new roses and perennials. I'd like to enjoy them without batting around these huge insects. I don't think they will eat the roses but we have put netting around our "baby" trees as they will try and lay eggs in the bark and destroy young ones. I'm so hoping to get to enjoy the new deck and the back yard. This is one of my new roses. It smells incredible.
I think we are going to be very brave and go out to a movie later. One of the many things that I have missed about ordinary life.
One of my favorite colors - so deep and mysterious and hauntingly lovely (IMO!). That cicada thing is crazy - hope they leave your gorgeous blooms alone :)
