This statue is one of my favorite stops in Zagreb.
It is located in the old uptown, at the very old walking path overlooking the city.
It is a very popular photo sight...
Everyone, just everyone has to be photographed sitting next to or in the lap of one of our greatest poets, Antun Gustav Matos (second half of 19th century).
He used to spend his time here at this peacefull place. This sculpture feels so alive, and real, and it fits the stream of uptown life so perfectly. That's why I love it so much. I kind of always want to stop at the bench and say hello to this old poet. Unfortunatelly I can't find translations of his work on internet, if there are any.
It is very windy today so I decided to search for some horizons and blue skies, and came by a poet. Tomorow I will post what is he looking at...
I like your pov, it looks like an inviting place to sit and remember the poet who loved being in this place. Look forward to seeing what he's looking at!
Radila sam u blizini!
