I went for a walk in the center of Zagreb, my beloved city and hometown... It was the sadest walk I ever had... I couldn’t tell what was worse: the emptiness because of covid or the damage after the earthqake. But still there were signs of hope.... Some time ago, an artist, textile designer made an instalation on a wall of an old school that needed renovation for a while trying to say that we need to heal all the wounds of our city. She put that hearth on a crack in the wall and stiched it with a blue string. Blue is the color of our town. Now, after the earthquake new cracks are opened, that very school is completely unusable, among with 4 other schools that have major damage.
This heart became a simbol of ZG earthquake. We will stich it in time.... Somebody watched over us because the earthquake happened in the early sunday morning during isolation period so people were at home. Seeing the damage after, I am sure many pepple would be hurt or killed if life was normal. We did have one victim, a 15 year old girl....
