Past its Heyday. by chrisiow

Past its Heyday.

This small but beautifully formed old cinema is sadly consigned to the scrapheap, demolition imminent. Over the past few years there have been many attempts to raise enough funds to save it but alas never enough to satisfy the owners. I guess it will soon be replaced by yet another expensive apartment development.
Very sad when that happens

Such a shame to see old places being knocked down, we use to have an old cinema with interesting architecture, but the council decided we only needed one cinema so it was demolished :)

Sad to see these old building go, I love the design. Good decision to go B&W.

Sad isn't it. Development is rampant here, too. Even recently built houses are being demolished to make way to apartment blocks. AND I HATE ALL THAT.

@bkbinthecity @bigmxx @joev @sangwann . It was in its day a lovely little Art Deco 1930s cinema, but alas same here Dione lots of high price apartments which local people, especially the younger generation can't afford so they are usually bought by well to do people who want a holiday home on the Island. I also hate all that.

B&W suits it really well. It's a great idea to document these builldings before they're demolished. If it's any consolation, same problem here too.

@wintivic. Sadly it seems the problem everywhere.
