(Day 292) - B is for Backlight (and Black & White)! by cjphoto

(Day 292) - B is for Backlight (and Black & White)!

Today decided to kill two techniques with one stone!

Usually backlighting, or a light source behind the subject, is used to create impressive silhouettes but it also does a great job illuminating transparent subjects. Oftentimes, I like to use the light from my bedroom window and the blinds to create interesting light and patterns.

In addition, I don't do very many black and white photos, but in this case, it really helped the eyes to focus on the patterns in the photo which is what I was going for. ◕‿◕
FAV! What an excellent image, Chris!

great tag and I agree about the b&w. I like how the blinds are shown in miniature in the marbles.

So does that count as "refraction" as well?

Fantastic shot!!! Despite your tag I'm happy you chose to post them in b&w! :) This is soooo beautiful, I love this.

@francoise - Yes, you're right. It definitely counts as refraction, which is such a fun technique as well!

@dibzgreasley @kerosene - Haha didn't think anyone would catch the tags but glad you did! Thanks so much! I love the way window blinds add neat patterns and perspective, Debs! I happy I did it in b&w too, Caroline!
