Yesterday, I talked about how scheduling is important for me in keeping my project going. So it might seem strange that I'm now showing you a picture of a mess...but it's my perfect mess. :)
This is one of the ways I get inspired! I keep all of these toys, crafts, knick-knacks & doodads inside my Inspiration Box. Sometimes, just looking at them gives me ideas.
But I have an even bigger "Inspiration Box" online. I love searching for creative photos on Google Images and Pinterest. Even looking back at my favorites and followers on 365 can get me inspired. Sometimes I challenge myself to learn how a photographer created a photo by trying to replicate it myself with my own spin. Other times, my brain is sparked with new ideas just by looking at photographs I admire.
There's another very important part of this process for me that I'll discuss tomorrow. In the meantime, we're all inspired by something different in our photography. What inspires you? :)
So many things to get the Creative
Juices flowing, what inspires me to be a creative person is looking at other people’s stuff and telling myself I want my work to look just as good!
Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes. I have a magic box of light toys that I peruse now and then. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Your inspiration box is awesome! Makes me smile! I regularly search online for creative ideas and as Lynn commented, most definitely viewing photos here on 365 is tremendously inspiring. :-)
Thanks for the insight Chris and what a good idea. I've been subscribing to a couple of photography mags since I got the bug and get some good ideas and/or different techniques to try out. Getting out (anywhere) also often turns up 'discovered' inspiration, as well as a few places I just like to take pictures at. I also I have a drawer with stuff I've spotted over the last couple of years that I thought might be good subjects for a rainy day.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond - While CJ gives me lots of inspiration, I actually don't keep him in this box. He has a separate cabinet for him and all his clothes. :D Google is awesome and sometimes trusting the camera to do its thing can result in some magnificent results!!
LOL this "mess" has inspired me to take a shot of the ever-increasing-although-I-promised-myself-I-would-not-buy-any-more Critter population! Yes, my little muses do inspire me at times, but sometimes it's just seeing something in a different light, a color, a thought, and simply whatever my eyes land on when I'm in search of a picture. And of course there's always spending time messing around in the photo processing blender to produce what Vikki Summerfield dubbed "annfoolery".
@olivetreeann - Haha you're Critter population might need to open up there very own farm. :D You're so right about seeing things in a different light, color or thought. It's amazing what can jumpstart are ideas. And yes, "annfoolery" is a totally creative process!
For inspiration I buy one photography magazine a month, I love the editing projects in it although I rarely get time to do them. I also love the suggested photo projects in the magazine and have on a few occasions been inspired by them. I google images for ideas and then try and think how could I do it differently. I love the images on pin interest they are usually more creative. As you know I do some of the challenges on here too, they help me focus.
@stephanies - You do your inspiration a lot like me!! Haha. Although I have yet to buy photography magazines. I'll have to find some to add another boost of inspiration....I can use all I can get some days. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and for all your wonderful comments Stephanie!
I can’t help but notice the Fun Camera in the upper right. :-) Cool to see the long legacy of inspiration you’ve gotten from that all these years. I say “all these years” but how do we know you’re really 28 years old, stayed in your profile? Isn’t it possible you started your project at the age of 4 or 5 (prodigy whose writing skills developed early) and are now 11 or 12 years old? That would explain a lot, Chris. We need a self-portrait weekly theme. ;-)
Hahaha yep my trusty Fun Camera continues to remind me to stay a kid at heart. You would probably think I'm still 11 or 12 because I actually look quite young for 28 (well maybe I look more 17 or 18). :P Anyhoo, one of these days I will add that elusive self-portrait. Maybe I'll get CJ to help me out with it. :)
