(Day 4) - My Process: Imagination

Yesterday, I showed off my boxes of inspiration. Thank you, however, for mentioning what inspires you! @joysabin has a magic box of light toys to jumpstart the ol' noodle. @gilbertwood is inspired by the wonders of nature. @guymundo is inspired by photography magazines and even has a drawer of stuff he found to photograph for a rainy day. Good idea! Many of you said you're inspired by our amazing 365 community. @grammyn even said I inspire her. Aww shucks, that was sweet. Thanks! :)

Now we come to another important part of my process: Imagination. It's probably safe to say we all use our imagination when taking photos. It's that picture we make in our head before or while composing the shot.

While looking at my subject, I try to picture it in whatever colorful, familiar, or wacky way possible. No boundaries. If I'm having a hard time using my imagination for my very creative themes, I tell myself, "Think like a kid" or "What would kids do if they were playing with this or acting out this scene?" or "How would this subject behave if it were a cartoon?" (This is probably why my Inspiration Box contains so many kid-like items). Haha!

Using my imagination in this way, I've seen gummy bears with emotions, paperclips as people and a popsicle stick as...well...we'll get to that tomorrow. In the meantime, what does your imagination see when you look at this popsicle stick? :)
Who ate the icecream????

@kjarn - Thank you Kathy!! Popsicle sticks could make a great forest! My backgrounds are large poster boards that I buy at my local dollar store. Any type of construction paper is also perfect for background. They're usually very colorful. :)
