When I first saw this beautiful green-eyed insect, I thought it was a dragonfly. When I got a closer look at it, I realized it was something different. After looking at many, many insect pictures, I finally found a pic of it.. It's a crane fly (Tipulidae).
He was hanging out on this cold, rainy day in the wildflowers. I took lots of pics of him, because I was fasinated with his beautiful eyes and the fact that he was staying put for so long. I finally had to stop taking pics when it started raining really hard. :0)
@bud1rich@flamez Thank you ladies! :0) @imn2it Thanks Nico! I got some really good close-ups of his head and they are a little scary. He has a bumpy head! :0)
@clarissajohal The eyes were just so pretty! They were almost an emerald green. I saw another insect a couple of days ago, that had the most delicate wings that were a pale greenish- blue. I'm hoping to find another one of those. One of the best things the 365 has done for me is to get me outside to enjoy the nature around me! :0) @ididntdoit87 Thank you Hillary! :0)
Sensational close up Carolyn - I love the colours in this photo as well. The greens against the vivid yellow flowers are just gorgeous and the detail in the little fly is incredible! Great work.
@nonni Thank you, Arline! :0) @murnane Thank you, Marg! I really need to buy some flowers to plant so I can attract more insects. First, our weather has to decide whether it's spring or not. It's really cold today! :0) @jadedfirefly Thank you, Laura! I wish we had a butterfly pavilion! That would bw so cool! :0)
I want to find a dragonfly to photograph.. it's right there at the top of my list of wanted pictures haha. We hardly ever see one though about here!
