Alien? by cjwhite

Alien?

The first thing that went through my mind was this looked like a tiny alien spaceship. LOL! I've never seen anything like it! I knew it was a chrysalis, but what kind? I found it on BugGuide.net and it's a Black Swallowtail chrysalis.

It's attached to the twig with a strand of silk. I think it looks like it has a dog's head. :0)

The Black Swallowtail caterpillar I posted on August 17 hasn't made a chrysalis yet. It just eats Queen Anne's Lace all day.

Thank you for stopping by!!! I love to read my comments! :0)

Nice shot. I look forward to future progress. I also think it looks like a dog's head with the pointed ears.

Very neat and different. I believe spider silk has more tensile strength than steal... So fir it's size that guy's pretty secure.

Invasion of the Pod People?

@espyetta Mary, I don't have any flowers in my yard. I find all my butterflies in my hayfield and my neighbors. There are lots of wildflowers in mine right now. Butterflies like clover, Queen Anne's Lace, honeysuckle, and Black-eyed Susans. Clover seems to be their favorite around here. :0)
