Color coordinated

It's always nice to be color coordinated with your food. We've had an abundance of these Soldier Beetles this summer. This one is feasting on Goldenrod.

That's an insect I haven't seen before ... and no doubt the camouflage ensures that its predators don't see it either. It would be quite upsetting to be eaten while eating!

I think he looks great! Enough colour to stand out. I've seen these beetles as well, but mostly on the Queen Anne's Lace.
