It rained all day. It was a cold steady rain, so I didn't get to take many pics. I was really happy to find this orb weaver.
When i uploaded the pics, I saw a mouse face on it. I see ears, eyes and a nose. Do you? :0)
This spider made me laugh. It was working on its web, when I walked up. It scrambled up the web and onto this dried weed. Then it played dead. I read that male orb weavers flee or play dead instead of biting. It works for me. LOL!

Good capture! I wondered why orb weavers are often not very pretty. Now, I know why---they are playing dead. I ran into a web the other day and had the creeps for quite a long time. I feel relieved to know that the spider is more scared of me than I am of her. Yes, I see the mouse on the spider. Good observation!
There's the "mouse!" So they play dead, huh? Love the way this guy is just hanging out there. If they knew how much we "females" freak out over them, they wouldn't have to play dead!
I do see the mouse...but he sure seems big! I hope you were at a respectful distance when you shot this! (I would be very far across the room, probably throwing some shoes in his general direction)
