This should have been a pic of the hawk I've been stalking. It was across the road on a power pole late this afternoon. I spotted it from my porch and went after pics coatless and in pajama pants. It flew from the pole to two different trees. I snapped about 15 shots. They weren't as clear as I would like for them to be, so you get a House Sparrow doing a balancing act. Maybe I'll see the hawk again tomorrow. :0)
I really appreciate the nice responses to my Eastern Towhee pic!!! :0)
My eye and my heart are on the sparrow! Beautiful photo. Know what you mean about the hawk. I'm stalking one too, however he's great at hiding and I'm always too slow on the draw!
so jealous of your bird shots. I see you have a pretty high ISO...I need to try that on these partially cloudy days when all the birds seem to inhabit my trees. :) lovely focus here, as always.
@cjwhite , it's nothing, i really want to shot like this... (birds).
but, in several trials, i think my tele-zoom (max 250mm) not enough to reach the subject. :)
Well this one's a cutie! And you're getting all these great winter birdies with fantastic props of branches and twigs with berries! I have Bird photo envy!! LOL!! Wishing you the best of luck on your hawk tomorrow!!
love this...my 9 year old son just came in and said "thats a house sparrow". i can't name any bird or flower..my memory doesnt hold that information!! he loves birds (the feathered variety). faving for him (and me!)..x you are so good at this..x
I love how American Sparrows and English Sparrows look almost identical (that probably sounds stupid as they are the same species, but think you know what I mean).....I love Sparrows!
I wish someone would have taken a picture of you out there trying to capture a photo of the hawk in your PJ's! Still laughing! Doesn't matter...this is a FAV so perfect! What caught my eye at first was the twirly branch right under the bird that is in perfect focus! Love this!
@tooki LOL! I didn't chase this one in my pajamas. It was a huge hawk, I chased in my pajamas. He just looked at me with a scornful look and flew away. :0)
Pretty capture of the sparrow. There is an elusive hawk (large one) in my neighborhood. The last time I saw him, I was so fascinated the beauty of his flight that I did not even think about picking up my nearby camera until he flew away. duh! Perhaps both of us will get our hawk picture yet.
A beautiful capture Carolyn. Love the crispness of the bird and curly twigs against the softness of the background. A fave absolutely. Got your message :-) I'm back ;-)
Woah - I love this!! Fav for the focus as much as anything (though it's all beautiful) - I love how you've got quite a lot of the twiddly branches in focus but the DOF is shallow - brilliant.
btw, how far the distance between you and this bird?
but, in several trials, i think my tele-zoom (max 250mm) not enough to reach the subject. :)
Good luck with the hawk...!
