Stretch! by cjwhite

Stretch!

I'm having fun with the 50mm lens. I didn't get to play as much as I'd like today. It was stormy on and off. I looked up once today and there was a really scary black cloud coming my way. I'm still not brave enough to stay outside for lightning pics.

This is a little Burrowing Bee. It was enjoying the Wood Slurge. The splurge is a very popular plant right now.

I saw my first snake for the year. I came around the house and the cats were playing with it! I did take a few snaps. Too bad I didn't have my zoom lens on. I told my family it was huge and looked like an anaconda. In reality, it was about a foot long. :0)

Thank you so much for your kind comments and faves on yesterday's pics! I really appreciate them! :0)
I love those little green plants. So your cats caught a snake... what fun!

I do the same when I see a snake - it was this huge! Have fun with the 50!:)

@5unflow3r They brought it to the porch! They always want to share their hunts. I keep telling them there's no need to share. LOL!
March 18th, 2012
Oh, Carolyn. They weren't sharing. They're trying to teach you how to hunt because cats feel sorry for humans and our clear inability to find good food for ourselves.

Beautiful, delicate, furry shot. Great detail. You've mastered your new lens already by the looks of it. (What sort of snake was it? Just interested as yours are different from ours.)

@cjwhite Mitzi used to leave us poor blind moles. Blech

Beautiful photo

@girlie Thank you Robin! It was a Common Garter Snake. They get their name from their stripes. They look like the stripes on garters that men used to wear to keep their socks up. :0)

Nice picture! Yesterday's title (a study in green) suits this picture too!

Everyday there's either a dead mouse or a mole on the deck, but so far no snakes. I finally caught my wild cat Tues night. I took her to the vet Wed. He worked her in and got her spayed. Yay!! Only 1 more to go and I have an appointment for her in 2 wks. Glad you are having fun with your new camera lens. Waiting to see some crystal ball pictures.
March 18th, 2012
@memejanetx3 Thank you, Janet! I've been practicing with the crystal ball, but I haven't gotten anything I really liked yet. I need to get away from home to take pics with it. :0)

March 18th, 2012

March 19th, 2012
great details and colours! i rather they share a snake than a mouse ... ;-)
March 19th, 2012
Now I have seen a burrowing bee and whatever you said that plant was! LOL. I think that will frustrate me about getting a macro lens...the "darn I have the wrong lens on to get this shot" thing. Oh well. I need to just deal with it, I guess!
