This is the new and improved caterpillar from my June 6 pic. I brought the caterpillar in on the seventh and it made a chrysalis a couple of days later. It took about 10 days for the transformation into this beautiful Black Swallowtail.
I looked at it up close and personal without the camera lens. I love doing that with butterflies!
Thanks to my husband Jeff for lending his hand for the pic. It's always tricky to get a pic of the new ones, before they fly away. :0)
Thank you for the kind comments on yesterday's butterfly!!! :0)
I love butterflies. We have a butterfly garden, built one at the school down the street, too. Butterfly World is nearby. Taking their photo can be a trick! You have some great shots! Mine flutter about constantly.
Ohmygosh this is lovely, Carolyn! I am not to the point of finding caterpillars and bringing them in. That would be a whole 'nother level of photography-motivated craziness! Gorgeous image!
@rhoing LOL! Yes. I'm crazy! It's really very easy to take care of the caterpillars. I have a butterfly habitat that I bought at Walmart. I always feed the caterpillars whatever plant I found them on. They do the magic all by themselves. ;0)
What fabulous colors and patterns on this butterfly. A miracle transformation, and he must know you took the time to watch him evolve as he is so friendly! I just saw you note above that you bought a butterfly habitat.....hmmmmm.....I need to look into that. FAV, of course!
It's GORGEOUS! Like velvet! I want to do more with bringing in chrysalis, but I cannot find them that easily...no big field to hunt around in, but maybe I can find a place...How COOL!
