Rush Hour by cjwhite

Rush Hour

A honey bee on its way to work on my hibiscus.

The rain and cooler weather has caused my hibiscus to start blooming again. It has also brought out the snakes! I almost stepped on a 5 foot long Gray Ratsnake today!

I didn't run. I stood really still. I did scan the ground for any of its friends and then I snapped pics. It was down in the dried grass, so I couldn't get a pic of the whole snake. I just got pics of sections that were in clear areas.

The silly cat was with me. He was busy taking a bath and never saw the snake. When it finally slithered into the woods, I let out the scream I had been holding in. That got Trouble's attention and made him jump! LOL!

Thank you for your comments and faves on yesterday's hummingbird pic! :0)

Big creepy crawly

So glad you survived the snake encounter to bring us this beautiful picture. Such great focus on that stamen and the busy little bee. I still treat warily around here, even in mid-winter. They're supposed to be asleep for the duration, but I have my doubts!

Too funny regarding the snake. I would do the same! We would love to see some rain and cool weather - send it north! :) Great catch - bees are hard to capture in flight and you have such a great background as well!

We have seen snakes recently, too - the whole dry weather scenario here has caused all sorts of critters to come out in the open. . .
