This was a big grasshopper. I was glad to see a bigger one. During our drought, I only saw a handful of hoppers. Now I'm seeing a lot. Before the 365, i never realized how many different kinds we have here. This is a Differential Grasshopper. It will get darker as it gets older.
Thank you for you comments and faves on yesterday's butterfly and robber fly!!! :0)
This is just an awesome capture and color ! your focus is impecable!! dont mind my spelling i should have just said perfect and FAV!! May i ask what lens you use for your macro shots?
When I was watering the flowers this morning I scared one out into the open, but before I could get my camera he was gone. He was at least 4 inches long.
@cjwhite That is so funny because i used my 70-300mm and got alot better results then my Macro most of the time prior to it breaking down on me last month...i already have sent it into Nikon once and had withdrawls but they fixed the wrong thing and now i have to send it back! Aggghhhh!! i miss mine soooo much ..it is my fav too!
Amazing what we've come to notice since 365! I, too, see so many different grasshoppers now whereas before they all seemed to be alike. Very nice shot of this old yeller.
I hate grasshoppers, Carolyn, because of the fact that you never know when they will fly off, land on your clothes and remain stuck there. But I must say this shot is very beautiful and detailed.
Great close up. I have been seeing lots lately. There's one that has brilliant reddish colour in its wings but you only see it when it flies and I have not been able to catch that :(
