USO

I haven't had a regular volunteer shift at the USO for awhile, so I was excited when the Volunteer Coordinator told me she had an opening! I didn't waste any time answering “yes” to her email. Tonight was my first night back serving our troops... it was a busy night, but I didn't mind!

The Bob Hope Hollywood USO at LAX is the flagship center and representative of the services provided at all of the centers. It is named in honor of legendary entertainer and USO Ambassador of Goodwill, Bob Hope. For six decades, he brought the USO's famous "touch of home" and a string of smiles to millions of GI's often during their most difficult hours. Bob Hope will be remembered from generation to generation for the wonderful memories he and his Hollywood "band of gypsies" gave to U.S. troops through the years.
So nice of you to volunteer for the troops ~ sounds like a fun thing to do, too. I remember when Bob Hope was big and did all those shows for the troops ~ funny and good guy :)

@sitiodown It's my passion, Tari, and as soon as I find another job serving our troops, no matter which state, I am so there! I love watching the old footage of Bob and various guests entertaining our troops. It always makes me wish I was born in the 40's. :)
