Purple flower...

Spent some time trying to get a photo that did justice to this flower. Not sure I succeeded but I do love the striped petals and the centre that looks like a wine gum!
Nice close up capture. What kind of flower is this? The stripes really do set it off. This photo pops out at you. Fav!

@grannysue Thanks so much. I have asked the head gardner and she has no idea what it is I'm afraid! (it's a cultivated garden flower and probably not native here).

@cnic01 Beautiful capture. I like your use of the slight amount of negative space to the left of the flower. Fav. I thought it might be an African Daisy so I did an online search. It looks like it is a Osteospermum “Soprano Purple” (African Daisy). What do you think?

Yes, that looks absolutely right. We haven't really had a lot of success growing them but at least the one survivor posed nicely for my camera!
