where the räppli is born ! by cocobella

where the räppli is born !

Räppli means confetti
I have read today that people from Basel think that they invented the confetti !
Don't know if it's true but they use to throw a lot of confetti during Fasnacht. Even 6 months later you can find them in your house....
There a sort of policy about it :
-you are not allowed to pick up the confetti on the ground
-you're not allowed to throw confetti of mixed colors, only one !
-you're not allowed to threw confetti to the musicians.

this shot is perfect for the theme of the week...thats what I found on the street!

Over here in Australia confetti is pretty well outlawed in most churches and reception halls. Love the perspective of your shot though!!

I can understand not throwing it at the musicians but, I really don't get the other two rules. Lovely shot, Corinne! Very colorful and festive!

J'aime beaucoup ces règles : étonnantes ! :) Et je confirme que l'on retrouve des confettis des semaines et des semaines plus tard, même dans des coins improbables...
Cette photo est parfaite en effet pour le thème de la semaine !
Bravo !

@bdb3471 here you can throw it during 3-4 days, after that you have a carpet of 10 centimeters in town !
@marlboromaam For the first one I have an explanation : it's dirty cos it is mixed with... you don't know what ! ;)) For the second, you better don't ask, that is a Swiss rule...just obey ! There are a lot of thinks that I don't understand here.....

@cocobella Okay. That makes sense why they don't want to you to pick up what's been thrown. But the second one puzzles me, same way it puzzles you. I won't ask them though! LOL!

Great shot! Looks as though rule #2 wasn't followed in this shot.

Les confettis c'est sympa sur le moment mais quelle galère pour nettoyer.... on en retrouve tout le temps !
Belle PDC sur cette photo ;)

A very fun shot. Looks like rule #2 was not followed unless many people threw up a single color each. Thanks for explaining this. Very interesting.

Wow, such a creative and fun shot. Love it!

@svt Merci Sophie...je viens même d'en trouver dans ma douche ce matin....
@marlboromaam I think I've found !!!!! I was thinking WHY, WHY all night long (I'm joking...)
The second rule is here just to verify you didn't pick up the ones with mixed colors and dirty on the ground, that makes sense no?! ;))

@copperheadglass I can aware the rule number 2 had been followed but then all is mixed on the ground....it's in fact very very nice!
@ebdubay thank you Erinn, today is the last day of the carnival, gonna take some more shot!
@stefun merci Stephane, j'ai juste posé mon appareil par terre...;))
@darsphotos thanks Darlene and you are right, people are carrying bag of just one color, but you can buy different colors ( not the same person !)
