Beach Ladies

It feels strange to have a month with no particular project to do. I feel a bit lost.

I’m also battling to recover from Covid. It’s been nearly 6 weeks or so, I think, that I contracted it for the second time. It’s won this round, that’s for sure. I’m permanently exhausted, have chronic bronchitis, cough myself stupid just walking 100 metres, ache all over, and have absolutely no stamina. I would preferably just permanently stay in bed and sleep/read/rest.

But that’s not going to happen - so I strolled down to the beach and did some people and activity observing. I find it an entertaining and informative way to spend an hour or two.

These two ladies emerged from the sea - I loved their almost-identical bathing caps! I don't know when last I saw anyone wearing a bathing cap. I last wore one at school when we had bi-weekly swimming lessons (loathed that with a vengeance!) and caps were compulsory.

I sense that these women are not Mauritian; they look as if they originate from someplace in Africa. Maybe Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, maybe even Madagascar - it’s hard to tell. Their hands are well-groomed, so that tells me they are more than likely not from a rural area. Their features are almost certainly not Mauritian, however, and Mauritians will most definitely not wear a bathing cap.

Mont Choisy beach.
Good luck on your recovery. Love the image. Mo Jo is just waiting for you.

Great photo. I hope you get over the Covid soon. I’m coming up to the end of the 2nd week. I was worrying that I might get bronchitis as well, still coughing a fair bit, and feel like I’m walking against water and definitely feel like sleeping.

This is a wonderful capture of these 2 ladies. I agree about the bathing caps...it's been awhile since they were a thing! Feel better soon...I know Covid can really zap the energy right out of you!

My thought about the caps when I saw this, they are taking special care of their hair. A nice capture of beach life. Hope you continue to improve. The week that I came out of confinement, I tried to walk a bit and could barely walk 15 minutes without stopping and resting several times.
