Ashley River at Magnolia Gardens by congaree

Ashley River at Magnolia Gardens

A late afernoon view of the Ashley River and marshes at Magnolia Gardens. The Ashley, a tidal river, empties into the Atlantic Ocean about 12 miles downriver from here and at its mouth is very broad. The historic river has a number of plantations along its course where rice was cultivated centuries ago. The river has its source in swamp streams north of Summerville, SC.
I think I've read several books based in this area - I loved the description of the scenery and here it is looking so beautiful!
