It’s poppy time in our garden, the first has just opened and there are quite a few more to open. These were one of my dads favourites, he used to grow all the Californian varieties over 60 years ago. These and iris where his favorites out of all the flowers he grew which were many. The ones we grew for his market stall were, sweet peas, sweet William , fragrant stocks, gladioli, margerites which were dyed brilliant colours and sold like hot cakes, delphiniums, lupins, chrysanthemums, dahlias and a few more that were in season. We also grew a lot of veg for market and warehouse, there was always a crop of some sort on the go.

Such a lovely coloured poppy , I also love the big and blousy California Poppies - my clump seems to have gone smaller , but still a few flowers to come ! fav
