The birds were having a whale of a time swooping down on the plentiful nuts and seeds some one had generously strewn in piles along the low wall that runs along side of the Clay Bank carpark this afternoon. It’s a popular spot for bird spotters as you get a mixed bunch of hungry birds not too frightened of the cars and people coming and going. Today I spotted this very colourful robin, chaffinch, blue tits, coal tits, black caps, blackbirds, pheasants and believe it or not a beautiful petrol feathered cockerel! He had just walked off as we arrived, but the couple that where there said he’s been showing up since November and is fairly tame! They couldn’t make their mind up wether he was just an occasional visitor from one of the farms or he had made a bid for freedom, food and a lot less nagging from his hareem!
