old pear tree by cruiser

old pear tree

this is in our front garden. It was a tiny thing 40 years ago when our house was built and I think it is actually from root stock because our land was once covered by apple orchards. The blossom doesn't have a nice smell but it always puts on a pretty display every year.
So many flowers. Is there a partridge in there too.

That tree is almost weighed down with blossom! Beautiful, hopefully pears one day too!

@seattlite @happypat @ilovelenses @sangwann thanks everyone.
ha ha no partridge Babs @onewing and sadly no proper pears either. If it does produce any they are very hard and only about 2cm long. However, it makes up for no pears with tons of blossom.

@cruiser why is it that pretty much all fruit trees in ordinary gardens produce rubbish fruit? Our are no different!

That is a very lovely display. What a shame that you don't get pears as well.

Does it form fruit. We have a whole row of root stock - they look lovely like this one, but never produce anything.

@robz Sorry - I just read your reply above - ours are the same as yours - pretty thankfully but fairly useless! Cheers.
