A family tragedy....

....first the Mother (aged only 32) then a month later her two daughters.......
Sounds like plague victims.:(

@swillinbillyflynn Cholera I think. There was an epidemic here around that time. Whole villages (including Mevagissey) were put into quarantine and moved out into tented accommodation on the outskirts.

Oh how sad, it was really tough back then. My GGG Grandparents had 9 children and 5 have them died in childhood.

That is very sad for the husband and father. I like going round tombstones when I happen to be at one of the cemeteries.

@sangwann I know, it must have been such a tragedy for that family. Yes, we like to look around cemeteries at the old stones and memorials.

@gardenfolk Yes indeed it must have been. Think they must have been a quite well off family in order to afford such a memorial stone.
