For the last few years I have had a rotary line which has been somewhat shorter than standard.
When the Knotty Haired Teen was a younger Knotty Haired Kid, she used to take one of her chairs and stand underneath the rotary, grabb and arm, swing round full circle and land back on the chair.
One day the rotary fell over.
"Metal fatigue" declared my husband, sawed the bottom foot off the pole and stuck it back in the ground....
When he was given some Argos vouchers he decided that it was time for me to have a new wash line. A month or so later and the day arrives when it actually gets planted in the garden.
This onvolved a lump hammer and a block of wood, and a spirit level.
For the past 10 years or so the rotary has been on the middle lawn - half under the apple tree.
We decided to put the new rotary on the lower lawn, so I currently have TWO rotaries.
I shall be keeping an eye on my neighbours gardens to see if any of them are following suit....
Mind you, it's very useful for drying my mountain of washing after our holiday!!!
The pic reminded me of this song from my youth....
