Casualties of War by daffodill

Casualties of War

Scattered where they fell,
not knowing the name or face
of their assassin.
No careless caress caused this cruel carnage.
The perpetrator was intent on destructive rebellion
and didn't stop to enquire
of the length of blooming,
but took the decision
to carry out some quiet rebellion,
safe in the knowledge that
they were unlikely to be caught.
A opportunist moment
to hit out at the educational establishment,
Why didn't you teach me about life,
and love and learning?
Instead of seeing me as a negative pull
on your sadistic statistics
That condemn me
in order to place another tick upon a sheet
that no-one will see.
And so I dance upon these flowers.
A colourful crime
with no rhyme
or reason.
Except the sun is shining
and the season
reminds me
of the hopes I had
that were cruelly dashed
like broken flowers
on the unforgiving tarmac.

Sad sight but the above are just my imaginings and bear no known resemblance to real life
