Snowflake by daisymiller

Snowflake

We had a surprise snowstorm. Snow was in the forecast, but we had a slim chance of receiving snow. At first, you could see individual snowflakes. Then, the snowflakes fell faster and faster. Soon, we had almost white out conditions. I scurried back inside before that happened. It is really cold outside!

For the flash of red (BW) challenge, we are supposed to concentrate on composition components this week. As I thought about this, I could not decide what to do. Even though I have worked on BW for a few years, I still do not feel totally competent with BW. As I thought about my failures with BW, I realized that I see the natural world as a place with many complex details. I seem to do the best in BW when the subject is simple. I decided to concentrate on simplifying my shots. As the photographers in one photo club say, "KISS. Keep it simple stupid!" I need that reminder. So....I will try to keep my shots simple this week.

Great macro! That is an excellent rule to work by too- the "simpler" you keep your shot as far as composition goes, the stronger it will be.
