Fern in the light and in the shadows

The weather is cold. I took this shot of my fern plant in the garage. My goal was to capture the alternating patterns of light. This is the 54 week challenge for this week. The directions say that alternate patterns of light bring depth and rhythm to the photograph. I also took this shot for the flash of red (BW) challenge. This week, the challenge is to select and then use a composition component. I have chosen to work on "KISS" (keep it simple, stupid). I have found that I fail with BW when I select complex subjects to photograph. I am hoping that I can improve my BW photography, by trying to keep my subject matter simple.
Love the repetition of pattern in the light and shade

Well done - sometimes simple does work best

I really like the repetitive patterns here. Very nicely done.

Once again, following your "simple" rule, you've created a very strong image. The pattern made by the fronds and the shape of the individual parts of the leaf is very appealing!
