What would such a building have been used for? Can't quite make out what the symbol is above the door. But it is a cool looking building. The tired paintwotk and rusting canopy give it lots of character 👍
@paul10 It seems the symbol above the door is the Texas star. Texans are very proud of their state and this symbol is everywhere, even in ALL of the highway overpass supports. I think it's awesome they love their state and country as much as they do.
I'm not sure what the building would have been used for. Across the street was a large country store (also abandoned). Because I am not always completely courageous and I was alone, I didn't explore. There were people living nearby.
We Texans love our star, it's on our state flag. So I'm guessing you are just visiting Texas? You have probably learned we are a bit obnoxious about our wonderful state, smile. Because of the porch handrails I think maybe this was a post office, not necessarily a church, since I don't see evidence of a steeple. It's a beautiful building. Wooden buildings grow old so gracefully.
@louannwarren@henrir@laurieewilson@mittens@bkbinthecity@paul10 Lou Ann wins the prize. It must be the post office. I read where it closed in 1906. By the way, Lou Ann, I think Texans love for their state is admirable. We could all use a lesson, even if obnoxious at times.
