Lake Okeechobee by danette

Lake Okeechobee

The largest freshwater lake in Florida and the 8th largest natural freshwater lake in the USA. It covers 730 square miles! Because of the dike built around the lake I have driven by it probably hundreds of times but only have seen it a handful of times. I have never had the opportunity to boat or fish on the lake. There is much discussion over the fertilizer that goes into the lake thanks to the sugar fields around. This is one of the main water sources for South Florida and we often can tell you the height of the lake!
How beautiful! I lived in Orlando for six years and never saw it, until now.

Wow, looks like an ocean view since you can't see anything across. Great capture.

My son and his family live in Gainesville but I get the feeling central Florida is very different from south Florida!

@allie912 thanks for the kind words. I do love clouds! I went to UF and my brother lives up that way. The weather is different but they also get great clouds.
