Old Florida by danette

Old Florida

This part of the Intracoastal still has some very old homes. Hopefully they will stay there.
Keeping my fingers crossed! Lovely shot! I guess they can only get so many on historical registers to keep them standing and under repair.

@marlboromaam they have quite the fights in Miami Beach over saving the old homes. In Ft. Lauderdale and points north, most of the homes didn't get old enough to become historical. There are still some homes from the 70's and a smattering from the 60's, but I noticed big changes this year.

@danette I can understand the plain ranch style homes from the 60s and 70s, but not for the ones with Spanish or Mediterranean features. Some had such super floors and wonderfully shaped windows and doors. Hate that!

I love this! Having been a "sailor" for many years on a few continents, this is my kind of scene.

One of the things I loved doing when I lived in Florida was taking a cruise on the intracoastal.
