@marlboromaam given that the elevation is at 6000' vs my hometown of 30', just walking in the fine sand was enough! Some of the dunes have very steep inclines. It would have been fun to rent an ATV.
@koalagardens I had to look up the term "Shai Hulud". Turns out, there is a band from the next town over that also uses that name! Small world. I do think they have sandstorms out there.
@lynne5477 I haven’t been to other sand dune areas out west. These were tall. It was hard to show the size, other than this one. It would have been fun to hike to the top, had we started before sunrise.
There is a huge sand dune on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where people hike, sled and fly kites among other things. Great capture with the people walking the ridge for perspective.
