We flew over the Fort Myers area yesterday. That is the Gulf of Mexico at the top, Sanibel/Captiva islands, Cape Coral and the Caloosahatchee River. So many families have lost so much. I just learned today that my DIL's best friend has lost their car and furniture. They are where Ian exited and don't have flood insurance. Give if you can. Doesn't matter how much.
Oh Danette, all I see is the paths of water! For each of you, there's another who knows another... You've gone to visit your son? As a news story, it's deserving of a fave, but I just can't...
@Weezilou no, we did not go to Tampa. By the grace of God, Tampa was spared. He had sought shelter farther north (to his reluctance). Hurricanes are generally manageable...unless there are tornadoes spawned and flood waters. Another friend had five huge trees come down in her yard, but they apparently protected her home.
It's a great capture and a sad event. Many companies and people are trying to help. Two more months of hurricane season to go. Praying there won't be anymore to hit us and do damage.
My SIL got off of Sanibel, her home for almost 40 years, but her home is a total loss. So many memories. She will be staying with her son and his family in Southern California where, hopefully, they won’t have to be concerned about earthquakes, mudslides or forest fires.
@allie912 I’m sorry to hear that. I remember flying to CA when a hurricane was approaching Florida and landed in CA with a heightened earthquake warning.
