This is a great fav from me - my mother went through here in 1929 and I am transcribing her travel diary 82 years later. I have to find what she said about it because she didnt take a photo as she did with some places. Hang fire....
Here it is, straight from the diary: :The reflections in Lake Llanberis were simply perfect and in the stillness of that summer evening, we felt as if nothing could be more beautiful! Capel and Curig are two wee lakes with more reflections and splendid scenery and the wooded valley where is Betws-y-Coed one of the finest Welsh villages. It grows not, nor does it bother about the crowds of people who come from all parts to admire its beauty. It remains unchanged in all Nature’s Beauty. With a little difficulty, we found board [18/-[NZ$1.80]]and were soon sound asleep amid those lovely surroundings.
Next morning we woke to found the sun still shining. What a day! A visit to the Conway falls up a beautiful valley was well worth the 2/- then another 2/- to see the Fairy Glen. Both little Welsh gems and we had them all to ourselves before the crowds come to spoil our high and noble thoughts. At the Swallow falls back along the road, it was different
@maggiemae FAB! and all described down to a tee! Thank you very much for sharing this with me - very humbling! I think during the summer the town would be heaving with tourists which is why we have chosen to visit in the Spring and Autumn months. Swallow Falls was incredible during our visit as it had been raining constantly for about 3 days. All the waterfalls in the area were extremely active and a sight to behold, in fact if you peek at my earlier pictures i'm sure you'll see just how active this particular waterfall was! Thanks again, it was very much appreciated :)
