I know snails are considered pests, especially to gardeners, but i've always found them fascinating. I took this one and another from the front garden (both of which were stuck deep inside their shells).
This one was particularly helpful and willing to explore what was going on after a little bit of coaxing, the other one however, was having none of it!
My children love them but we have to be careful with a large snail variety here because it can make you sick. The photo is great and has wonderful detail Darren.
You have captured him well...and he actually looks quite handsome even though I am not all that fond of them. Because of the their lovely shells they are much more attractive then slugs however!!!
Such a great shot of this guy!! My daughter absolutely loves snails! While everyone else is trying to poison them, we save them each day from the giant feet that may be the end of them on the sidewalks as we walk to the car before school.
Great snail shot! I'm not sure but I do believe this type of snail is edible, it's french cousin sure is (garlic and butter indeed, yummie!). Also just love watching them and taking shots of them. Cute animals and at least they don't fly off, start washing inappropriate bodyparts or keeping their ears in weird positions.
The only thing worse than snails are leeches!!!!
