Soccer Court Nets

Old photos with new edits, no favs please (trying to honor those who are submitting new photos). :)

Who knew going about finding photos I never developed, but may have have new potential, would be a good idea? Me! It's also helping me work through all the LR mistakes over the years.

This new approach for the year is allowing me to:
1. Finally do massive deletion of shots I never intend to visit, see again, or edit (since I did so many bird shots over the years, I have bazillions that are out of focus or just awful). I also have all kinds of events I attended for the kids, but have too many random shots of folks I do not intend to send a photo to, so out they go! How cathartic this feels! Delete, delete, delete.

2. Properly tag those photos I never have. Although, I suspect this may be a waste of time as I see the photos have been imported wrong in the first place. But at least I can see where the problems are--how to fix? Not a clue. Yet.

3. I can remember what I was doing and what I was thinking at the time. I did NOT have the editing skills I have now, so working with the shots gives me a good amount of freedom and pleasure trying to achieve a look! For example, this photo I have posted is one of several during my attempts to use my new wide-angle all-manual lens (got as a Xmas present at the end of 2013). I was obsessed with the outdoor Soccer Court nets where my kids used to play. I loved the abstract nature of the nets. This is one of the ones I never touched.

4. Spend time with proper editing. As a photographer, I spend so much time thinking about what I am trying to do with my work, what my mark is on the image. I feel confident playing with cropping, even though I will take almost an hour to do it all. This photo took me an hour to get to this version. I like having this time.

Hot Dog. Musing in 2018. Not necessarily recommended for public consumption. Hard on the eyes.

Photo Jan. 4, 2014, taken EXACTLY 4 years ago. Time flies. Capture it.
I love this project you have set yourself Daryl and think it is something I also should be doing! I certainly need to delete lots of rubbish shots! Why did I keep them in the first place?
This may be just what I’m looking for. Funny how we have changed our ideas over the years and also improved our skills. Love your POV by the way!

@pamknowler While I love the idea of continuing a daily journal, I am apt to take so many photos that I'll never develop. The past few years, I have not been interested in a full 365 project precisely because I produce so many shots I'll never sort through. I am more intentional as a photographer anyway, but I like the idea of being involved in an every day activity. For those of us who have been here so long, I think we can take that creative liberty to say, hmm, I'll go backwards, clean out the creative closet, all while I'm still going forward. At least, that seems doable to me. I have dumped over 300 photos already! :)

Hot Dog. This is a very stark and graphic image, Daryl.
Think you should of titled it ?
Because I had no idea what it was till I scrolled down and saw the title.

@darylo interesting the chain links looks like it's wrapped in an extra wire

@guttersniperebeccca almost like it's rolled up further back. It's nylon links going high up the sides of the soccer courts. My kids must have loved me standing taking shots of the nets and not them. :)
