Today was a pretty cold day, and I fully intended to talk a walk along the river for my 3.1 miles after I stopped below a major bridge to park (and get a shot before putting away the camera to walk). But I hadn't brought enough warm gear, so I popped on the trail to get one shot and hoped it was good enough for the day's photograph. When I got home, I was reminded of Jane Pittenger's latest shots focusing on architecture and Marnie's advice to crop in. Some day, I'll get down here with a tripod so I can do a long exposure! There is another bridge not too far away that has some graffiti on it as it was in my original project ages ago. I also did a BW version: https://365project.org/darylo/didn-t-make-cut/2021-01-07
As I went on the walkway to take the photo, I slid on some Georgia Red Clay--you see it across the river there. It's loamy, it's permanent, and it can make you fall if it's wet (and it ruins all clothing). I managed to keep my balance thankfully, but boy would that be ugly if I did fall in it. Haha. I got my walk in later with an extra jacket on body. Brrrrr
A terrific perspective! I like seeing the clay in the reflections in the river. At one time in Alabama there was a company that purposely washed clothing in the red clay to give it a dye job.
Glad you escaped the red clay ... although it could have provided you with an interesting selfie! ;-) Lovely architectural capture with a reflection to boot! Nice.
Very nice! Surprisingly, as I nearly always prefer b/w, I like the color version even better. The tones and the bold shapes make for a very dynamic image!
@darylo it just looks artificially lit as it seemed the colors (not just the brightness) in the center vs. the two outside pillars differ. I do like the effect it creates, though - don't get me wrong ....
@bpfoto the lighter pillars are that way as light was much better away from me (and they were narrower pillars with light coming in from both sides). The framing pillars were wider and closer to me. I cropped it to give the wide pillars the frame. I'll have to go look how much light hit. But it does look artificial. I would like to go back with a tripod and bracket the light and focus stack (but I don't really have editing skills for that!). Soon I hope. Thanks for feedback. Always welcome!
Well captured - I like the lighting on this. Kudos to you for walking outside - I'm been getting my miles completed inside, following the Lesley Sansone walking DVDs - just can't handle the cold!
