I have not been myself for a few weeks, but I finally got to witness Kamala Harris (my initial pick for President) become Vice President today. I am so full of so many emotions, I don't know why I can't get out of my depression funk to really celebrate.
I took other photos today--I visited a cemetery to mourn the dead-- over 400,000 Americans have lost their lives to Covid--I know, we must move forward, we must not lose hope, we must, we must, we must....
I also took a photo of my pasta dinner I made, opened a nice bottle of wine to celebrate the new president and administration. I even bought a chocolate bar--I never do that.
But there was just so much I could take of trying to be so happy with everything. We all know where we are in the world, how fragile it is, how it depends on being a good neighbor, not just on messaging, but on real, honest-to-goodness goodness.
This moment is made of goodness. So it's the pic of the day.
I get how trying to be happy can be exhausting. Struggled with last year (still...) alot of anxiety post cancer, lots of stuff helped to ease it but it just felt like alot of hard work and I just wanted to rest without it being an effort.
Hope some brighter days come both for you and your country and the world. Take care. X
I thought of you often while watching the inauguration. It was a very moving, and historical, occasion with thankfully no nasty interruptions. Hope the next four years live up to your expectations.
Daryl, Mrs S and I were transfixed by the honesty and integrity of all who took part. Lady Gaga had us weeping and Amanda Gorman was so inspirational - she is the bright face of America's future. Take courage that you now have a leadership that has strong moral foundations... and treat yourself kindly.
Depression is a difficult thing to deal with, please just be kind to yourself as much as you can. xo
