When I started my diet a month ago, I realized I would need to start eating breakfast. I am not a breakfast eater, nor do I like oatmeal, but I knew that being hungry would cause grazing behavior that would lead to no good.
But oatmeal is the only thing that curbs all hunger until about 2 pm, which means I can eat a light lunch because I'm just not that hungry by mid-day. I save all my WW "points" until my dinner where I spend most of my cooking time to develop something flavorful and enjoyable.
To make my oatmeal tastier, I've added 4 ingredients that still make it a 0 pt meal: Peanut butter powder (it's a product called PB2 that has 90% of the fat taken out of peanuts); cinnamon, bananas, and green apple.
I always have a cup of coffee every morning that I make in my Keurig with my reusable cup (zero waste!). Lately, I have not been frothing my soy milk to add in, but it's one of my favorite things in the a.m., so I do that on weekends or when I just want a delicious add-in to the coffee.
I also drink green tea (decaf) in the evenings before bed, which has helped with the prep to sleep.
This is a very small pot, but it makes a healthy portion of oatmeal (1/2 cup dry) with just the right amount of add-ins. I used to scoop it all in a bowl, but now, I eat it right out of the pot!
Nicely captured - this is one of the best things you can eat in the am - I've tried numerous times, but just can't get past the consistency - I should try your add-ins.
Ever since my surgery I have tried to eat more oatmeal I like it even uncooked with milk and cinnnamon. The apples look like a nice add in for some crunch. Can you have nuts and raisins? This is a greart choice of composition with the cup of coffee and I adore that you eat it right from the pot!
@grammyn nuts and raisins add points. This combo works well so far. I've eaten it 21 days in a row hahahaha! The pot is the perfect size--it was a little ridiculous putting it in a bowl!
@linnypinny the powdered peanut butter was my game changer. I figure if I suffer through this (and honestly I don't hate it), the rest of the day is tasty!
