As some of you know, I'm attempting to figure out how AI Servo functions and why I might want to use it (after all, I chase moving subjects all the time, sometimes with very poor results. I thought it was because I move too much--well, it does have something to do with that too).
So I did an experiment with my child's beloved sock monkey! I put him on the jumprope swing we have expressly to swing our stuffed animals on the cherry tree in the front yard, and then I swung him using AV setting and AI Servo auto focus. See how sock monkey is in focus even though he's moving backwards?!
@pflaume If you like moving targets, it's the setting to use! I can't believe how many photos I've taken without realizing my focus accuracy was likely to fail as soon as I started. I've discovered it's much better for movement coming toward and away--not as sure as much with side to side (because then I move too), but it's a new feature I'm going to continue to nurture! :)
Such fun. I think you just keep inserting the pictures you want in the collage, then resize each. Most applications allow you to right click for options like 'bring to front' etc. so that you can move then where you want.
@twistergirl First off, I can't figure out my darned PSE 10 and collages--everything is too confusing there for me (which really bugs me). I used pic monkey online (not on my app here because on 365, the collage option is not possible?) and it only gave me a set of 3, but I'll mess with it and see if I can redo it. Good to know! :)
@darylo I know how you feel. I couldn't figure the 'collage' thing out so I just used the MS photo editor that's on my computer, opened one photo to work on, then clicked on 'insert' one at a time until I had all the photos I wanted. Then I moved them around etc. I did this with my pears picture (April I think).
@jyokota Oh yay! Tag it csc-25 for the settings challenge! It's a perfect story for why it's a great setting. I'm still catching up on your photos, which I really hope to get time to do this weekend. Love the bridge one too! This is great stuff, especially at night, too! Isn't it fun to learn all this stuff!!!
@darylo - fun, fun, fun, yes! I so missed the 365 community and am glad to be back in. I'm only a couple of days behind now, and then I'll turn to enjoying others' photos, like yours!
And, I need to tell you that this photo and your narration made me smile. The idea of you putting a sock monkey into a swing and practicing is just plain fun!
@jyokota hehe, it was fun. I was working with a basket indoors with a rainbow zebra Webkins made into a derby hat before, but it just didn't have that sock monkey pizzazz I was looking for! LOL! The swing is a jump rope, turned stuffed animal swing Aidan made. We got skillz at this house, mad skillz! :)
@darylo Daryl, love this, and it looks like you've got it figured out ! Excellent work and presentation ! You forgot to tag this for the challenge though, unless you tagged the other one. Now I have to go and post mine.
Just figured out why I wasn't seeing your photos -- thought I was following you already! So I'm way behind on commenting. These are so great! This will be the next function I'm going to have to figure out. Very cool
Very cute shot. I've looked and looked through my manual, online etc and don't think my camera has that Al servo auto focus function. But I did find out how to take multiple shots in manual focus mode.
@judis I googled your camera and I believe it is called subject tracking AF (Auto Focus). I did it very briefly, but it looks like Nikon uses different terminology for the same feature. Let me know if you find it! :)
