Freakshow Fly (Step Right Up to see the Amazing Human Fly!)
I went to a movie with one of my daughters and came back after another rainy afternoon and said to myself, "go ahead, get ANOTHER bug...I know people are so tired of my bugs!" Sorry, but this one's worth it! REALLY!
Lucked out on this shot, not only for the clarity, but also because the light is late in day, overcast and the iridescence of the wings shows! It is a bit like a lightening bug...Have no clue as to what it is. It's on top of a thin blade of grass.
BUT, VIEW LARGE. Do you see a HUMAN FACE IN HERE? Let me know! I didn't even notice it until I was about to send (and it's perfection--brows, eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, chin-oh, and aviator goggles on his head-oh my, it really is a freaky bug!).
Wow, thanks all--so sorry for the mass replies these days--it looks like I may have a Hoverfly--I have not idea--I need a good bug book if anyone can recommend one. Today, I'm off to photograph at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with a friend (a REAL photographer too--well, we are all REAL). There is an excellent Topiary exhibit going on there as well, so hoping the light will forever be in my favor. Enjoy the day...it is HOT, HOT, HOT here! Cheers!
