This is when I wish I had an inner Taffy for my first attempt at the Atlanta skyline with light trails. I am standing on the Jackson Street Bridge with one of the best skyline views of the ATL. I forgot some things. I should have used manual focus in live view. I did remember to use live view, though, and I used a tripod. My exposure was long. Being alone, though, was part of my problem. For a first attempt, I'm pleased. Here's my city. I love it so.
The official countdown begins. I have one month remaining on my 365 project. Wow. I hope to finish strong. And I'll be back to perfect this shot. I must do it before the end of the year. :)
Daryl, you did a GREAT job!! Your light trails are steady which is no small thing, the buildings are clear, the light is terrific, and you even have starbursts. What more could you ask for?? Really wonderful!! And I'm honored that you think of me as someone to have along! I can't believe we are in our final month! It went so fast! What's left on your bucket list?
This is very nice. I like the series from empty street, to single taillight trail, to active headlights. The skyline works well too. Be safe out there.
You channeled Taffy well @taffy. This is fantastic! Beautiful fav...u inspire me! The last couple months here I am going to try really hard to do some of this!
@taffy Thanks so much. I have a lot to learn still. Getting the buildings in focus was a problem and I'm sure that's where manual focus would be better. I should not do shots like this alone, and I was a bit nervous being there all by myself. So I sort of tried to get to it, get it done, and move on! This is the longest exposure I have ever done! I have a friend who wants to do it with me again in December! Thanks for the encouragement. :)
@taffy Oh, and on my bucket list I still have water crown, some kind of bubble shot (something immersed in soda water), a beautiful landscape shot, and a dew drop with a reflection. Cliché I guess, but each presents a challenge to the settings I'll use! But the night skyline was a big one for me (with light trails).
@darylo We have some similar ones -- the reflection shot is on my list, and light trails. I also want to do something good with the crystal ball, a water crown, and a clear bird in flight (in contrast to my distant or blurred ones!). These may be cliché but I think they are interesting and challenging to do well.
@rachelwithey Yes, but the weather is not cooperating! Will try an alternate. :) I'll be downtown Thursday so may have to do a night switcheroo on the ONS. I love ONS!
Spectacular !!!!! What more could you do to perfect this shot? I know what you mean about having @Taffy along . . . she always helps me think through what I'm trying to do. :) I feel so lucky.
Maybe we can go TOGETHER! I have longed to do a shot like this, but just very little time and I won't go alone. No way. We could go together though! Make it an outing. We could ask Tara too! This came out fabulouso! Fav for me!
Very nicely executed. :-) Very brave going by yourself, I will have to admit that when I went to that spot rather late at night I wasn't completely comfortable myself, so definitely team up!
@darylo Thank you much for the invite; my schedule is pretty erratic going forward the next 6-9 months so probably better you all pick a date you know that works for you and if I can make it I most certainly will.
@darylo Oh, I wish I could go see Katy! Maybe during break, but it is going to be a tough sell! I am making her a "care package" but too busy to get to the Post office and get it packed and mailed!
