Old School Days by darylo

Old School Days

I should probably spend more time developing this photo, but I did work with distortion some and tried to balance out the lines. You'll see on the left how I've made a straight line out of the side (it was angled because of my position), so LR allows for several corrections. I made the correct alignment and then cropped after the fact (just slightly so the back right would angle up into the corner of the composition).

This is an old school bus with shattered windows. The photographer before me (we took turns) ended up cutting himself getting a shot, and he warned me before entering not to rely on the initial step into the bus (rotted out). The second step was not much more reassuring, but I did watch for the glass shards everywhere.

I would like to make the yellows/oranges and blues a bit more saturated. The top windows have that aqua color as well. May play in picmonkey if I get a moment.

Work calls. Old Car City still in effect for the month of November. Oh, and I did take three shots in this position using focus at back, then middle, then front with the intention of layering them to see if I could get a super sharp image. Is that possible in LR5 (doubt it), but if someone knows how to do it in PSE 10 (I have but don't use) or in a free program, I'd love to hear about it. Or just send me to a recommended link--I know it's probably more complicated than anyone wants to take time to explain.
The technicalities escape me Daryl but I do know that I think this is a fabulous shot! fav.

Wonderful distressed and textured shot... lots of history here. I enjoyed your comments, too. Sorry, no processing wisdom to share - I can't even straighten my own shots, so you are miles ahead of me.

Like this a lot, looks great to me

I think you did remarkably well. It's a bit of a sad photo. My personal thought is that you have processed it enough. If you saturated it more with yellow, would that make it look newer?

Well I like it a lot. I'm really drawn to the history and stories to be found within. Fav from me.

Wonderful capture of this old bus. I don't feel it needs any more saturation as the colours are quite vibrant. Sounds like a dangerous place to venture with all the glass shards!!

Oh dear! but I love what you've done to this image. Fav

Love at first sight!!!

@danette I tried some more saturation and have concluded that it's ok as is. I now think the light in the windows is probably the problem. A little too blanched. Can't really fix that. Thanks for the suggestion!

I am so impressed with the way this turned out! I have No comprehension of the technical expertise required I just know that you "done good"!

This is so wonderful. I love the blues of the seats and the gorgeous textures everywhere. I know you can focus-stack in PS-CS4, but I'm not sure about Elements. In PS-CS4 it's called Auto-Blend Layers and is under the Edit menu.
