Bavarian Rose China by deborahsimmerman

Bavarian Rose China

I spent hours going through papers in the back room, organizing, filing, recycling. A lot of it actually brought up good memories; I know I will enjoy looking at some of these things in the future and may even make memory books of some kind.

This was my tea tray after the work was done for the day. The cup with the roses in it is one of my earliest finds. I don't remember where I bought it, but it was in my early days in Boston. I found six of the plates years later, on Cape Cod.

I wish I had kept a record of my china collection--where I found each piece and the story connected to it (there often is one). I remember some of the locations and stories, but not all. I would also like to make a photographic catalog of the collection and maybe a photo book. China really appeals to me.
Lovely rose decoration on your china and using it is a great way of enjoying it.

I too love china. This is very pretty and I love the way you've composed the picture.

Sue,

I'm glad you love china too. It gives me so much pleasure and adds graciousness and specialness to daily life.

The young don't seem to care about it at all. I have an excess of china and have several boxes of it in our storage room that I'd like to sell or even give away to a young person who wanted it (but I don't know any such person). Antique shops around here don't want china because it doesn't sell much anymore; there aren't even that many antique shops left as the young aren't interested. Each generation has its own tastes, and there will probably come a time in the future when the cycle comes around and there's an interest in antique china again.

Wendy,

Thank you for your comment.

Yes, I like to use my china--I don't have a "too good to use" category. I like to make life special on a daily basis.
